Timeline
After eleven long months of waiting, I am days away from departing to Norway. When I explored Fulbright opportunities years ago, I never dreamed that I would actually receive such an award. The application is lengthy, and the review process is rigorous. I wanted to document my Fulbright journey so that I could look back and remember the many steps, stumbles, and falls it took to get to, around, and back from Norway.
To begin this blog, I’m posting the timeline from application submission to departure to Oslo:
16 Sept. 2024: Submitted the online application for a Fulbright Roving Scholar scholarship in Norway.
14 Oct. 2024: Application passed the preliminary review.
31 Oct. 2024: Attended a Fulbright meeting informing candidates of next steps.
6 Dec. 2024: Application passed inspection of the Department of State.
19 Dec. 2024: Received an invitation to interview with the Fulbright team in Norway
13 Jan. 2025: Participated in an interview with the Fulbright team in Norway. It was mentioned that I could expect to hear about my application decision by mid-March.
18 Mar. 2025: Received an email stating that all Fulbright applications were being reviewed politically. This has never occured before.
9 Apr. 2025: Received an email stating that all Fulbright applications were being reviewed to ensure they were not in violation of Executive Orders issued January 20th, 2025.
13 May 2025: Received final notification that I was awarded a Fulbright Roving Scholar position. I immediately sent my passport off to be renewed.
15 May 2025: Signed the rental agreement on an apartment in Oslo.
2 June 2025: My new passport arrived.
11 June 2025: Applied for Norwegian residency in Washington, D.C. There are only 5 offices in the US to do so. I had to give my passport to the agency to process the paperwork.

10 August 2025: Leave for Norway. Her går jeg!
